“Auto-Tune EFX” and “Auto-Tune Evo” are the two versions of Antares Audio Technologies’ Auto-Tune software commonly used by pop, hip-hop and R&B artists and producers. These two programs, which are part of the Auto-Tune family, have the same main functions. However, the Evo version offers a number of additional features that make it more advanced than its EFX counterpart.
Basic functions Antares Auto-Tune EFX and Antares Auto-Tune Evo
have two main functions: vocal effects and pitch correction. With pitch correction, the program selects the closest pitch to the one entered as the target node. For vocal effects, the user can choose between Hard EFX, very popular among professional artists, and Soft EFX, which performs small pitch changes and smooths a bit less immediate pitch transitions.
To the automatic pitch correction, Antares adds an overdrive speed control that ensures that the overdrive speed suits almost any playing style. Additional and enhanced features include a graphical mode that allows you to use graphical tools to set the desired pitch on the screen, formant correction that allows you to preserve vocal character over a wider range of pitch changes, laryngeal shaping technology, a redesigned user interface, and redesigned key controls.
Windows System Requirements
Antares Auto-Tune EFX and Antares Auto-Tune Evo are compatible with computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system. The operating system must be Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. In addition, the Windows PC must support Avid Technology’s Pro Tools digital audio workstation platform, specifically Pro Tools or Pro Tools LE 7.x or later, which uses the audio and video producer’s real-time audio plug-in technology. Antares has added support for non-Pro Tools inputs to Auto Tune Evo in Pro Tools HD 7.2 and Pro Tools LE 7.3 to meet graphics mode sync requirements.
